Harold Chapin, playwright of The New Morality, was killed in an act of heroism on September 26th, 1915 in the Battle of Loos. The London theater community lamented Chapin’s death with a memorial performance at the Queens’s Theater, while his wartime letters from the front were published as Soldier and Dramatist.
On Monday, September 28th we will honor the 100th anniversary of Chapin’s untimely death. The evening will feature a discussion led by George Robb, author of British Culture and the First World War, as well as readings of selections from Soldier and Dramatist and the unpublished Harold Chapin letters, which are stored at Pennsylvania State University.
